The Four R's of Spiritual Growth
This lesson is in 4 parts.....
None of us automatically grows spiritually. Each of us must choose to grow....and we must choose to continue to grow. We must never be satisfied with our current level of spiritual strength. We must always seek to become stringer, more mature, and more effective in the Lord.
2 Peter 3:18 says "Grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."
This is now a nice statement of encouragement or support. It is a command from the Lord.
In God's Word, we find 4 keys that are prerequisites to growth, no matter how mature a person may be in the Lord. Today, we'll look at the last 2. Sorry for the delay....
Reflect on God's Work
You must gain an understanding of what God desires to do in you and ultimately what He desires to do through you.Ephesians 2:19-22 says
Put those verses in your own words.
What principle is Paul addressing here?
How do these verses demonstrate that all Christians can learn from God's involvement in the lives of other Christians?
In what ways have you been blessed by God's work in those He has places in your life and in the lives of those who have gone before?
Response to Trials
Rather than running from trials, ask the Lord why He has allowed a specific trial or test to come into your life. Look for the lesson He desires to teach you or the character trait He desires to strengthen. At the same time, ask God if the trial you are experiencing is a chastening from Him. Ask the Lord, "Is there something in my life you want me to change?"
1 Peter 4:12-13 says
When have you gone through a fiery trial that actually strengthened your character?
What trials might God be using right now to make you more like Christ?
What are we called to rejoice in when we face trials?
How can rejoicing make a trial more helpful?
